College & Career Ministry at Indianola First Methodist Church

At Indianola First Methodist Church, we recognize the unique challenges and opportunities that accompany two significant life transitions: moving from high school to college and transitioning from college into the broader world. Our college ministry is meticulously crafted to support young adults during these pivotal stages. We understand that during college and the onset of careers, it's easy for spiritual life to take a back seat. Our goal is to offer these young adults opportunities to keep God at the center, even amidst the chaos of new responsibilities and realities.

Fellowship and Study Designed for You:

Our fellowship and study groups are specifically tailored to the needs and experiences of college students and recent graduates. In these groups, you have the chance to connect with others facing similar life changes. Each gathering includes engaging games, creating a fun and interactive environment where everyone can feel relaxed and welcome.

Growing Closer to God:

We provide a nurturing environment to deepen your relationship with God. Our ministry fosters spiritual growth through engaging discussions, dedicated prayer time, and in-depth study, offering the spiritual support and guidance crucial during these transformative years.

Safe and Supportive Community:

Indianola First is a safe and welcoming community where you can openly share your experiences, challenges, and achievements. You'll find peers who understand your journey and are enthusiastic about walking alongside you in faith. Our ministry is characterized by an inviting, non-judgmental approach, stressing the importance of humility and openness about our struggles. We believe that growth in faith is rooted in mutual support, not in judgment or criticism.

Connecting with Peers:

Building strong relationships is vital at this stage of life. Our ministry enables you to meet and connect with other young adults who share your faith and values, fostering lasting friendships and a strong support network.

Passion Conference Trip:

A major highlight of our college ministry is the annual trip to the Passion Conference in Atlanta. This event is an extraordinary opportunity to deepen your faith and partake in worship and teachings on a grand scale, alongside thousands of other young believers.

  • **Affordable Experience:** We're mindful of the financial constraints faced by college students. By organizing fundraisers throughout the year, we strive to keep costs low, making sure that everyone who wishes to participate can do so affordably.

  • Beyond the Conference: The experience extends beyond just attending the conference. We allocate an extra day in Atlanta for engaging activities like playing Topgolf and exploring the city, perfect for strengthening relationships and creating cherished memories with your peers.

Delta Grace Retreat:

The Delta Grace Retreat is an impactful experience tailored for our college students. This retreat offers a chance to manifest God's love through service in the Mississippi Delta, an area significantly affected by poverty.

  • Making a Difference: Participants at Delta Grace work on homes for those who can't afford or physically manage repairs. This retreat provides a tangible opportunity to make a real difference in others' lives, fostering growth in your own faith and understanding of service.

  • Learning and Growing: Engaging in this community service offers a deep insight into the challenges others face and the significant impact of hands-on assistance. It’s an impactful way to live out the teachings of Christ, emphasizing the importance of compassion and service.
